KABUL, May 6, 2015 – A seven-member team ofsports journalists from Bahrain and Afghanistan visited Peshawar on theinvitation of Pakistan Sports Writers Federation and Malik Saad Memorial SportsTrust.

The visit aimed at strengthening relations between sports writers andjournalists of the three countries. A memorandum of understanding was alsosigned, and a delegation from Pakistan and Afghanistan will visit Bahrain laterin the year.

The visiting Bahraini delegation was headed by AIPS Asia DeputySecretary and the Bahrain Sports Media Committee President Muhammad Qasim whilethe Afghan delegation was led by the newly-elected president, Sayer Zaland.

The Afghan Sports WritersFederation President Zaland urged the AIPS Asia to explore ways to arrange for trainingopportunities to young Afghan sports writers as they need help frominternational unions.

Qasim promised the Afghan delegation of support and saidthey would soon be invited to Bahrain.

After the meetings the delegations joined aculture night program which was organized by Malak Sassd memorial trust and theK-P culture department in honour of the guests.

 The delegation met with chief minister KhyberPakhtunkhwa and inspector general of police and Syed Aqil Shah, former sportsminister and senior vice-president of Pakistan Olympic Association.

The delegation ofjournalists also visited Peshawar Museum, the Peshawar Islamic College and alsothe national museum of the city.

Sayer Zaland

Sayer Zaland is an Afghan sports journalist and media professional, Founder of the Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF). Since 2014, he has worked to strengthen independent media in Afghanistan, representing over 100 members nationwide. He continues to advocate for free press, inclusivity, and international cooperation for Afghan journalists.
