Kabul: The Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF) has received a message of congratulations and encouragement from the Hong Kong Sports Press Association (HKSPA), following the formation of ASJF’s new organizational structure.

In a formal letter addressed to ASJF President Khoshhal Taib, HKSPA expressed confidence in the Federation’s ability to achieve higher levels of transparency and accuracy in sports reporting under its renewed leadership.

“This will not be an easy task, especially in your country, but with passion, vision, and determination, your Federation will overcome all obstacles,” the letter read.

Raymond Chiu, representing the Hong Kong Sports Press Association, emphasized the importance of developing young Afghan sports journalists. He noted ASJF’s crucial role in nurturing the next generation through training, mentorship, and international cooperation.

“As one of the mentors of our Young Sports Reporters Training Programme, we are looking forward to seeing more young sports reporters rise in your country. A better tomorrow is foreseeable,” Chiu wrote.

The HKSPA also reminded Afghan sports journalists of the guiding motto of its youth training initiative: “Passion, vision, determination and the connections. We are YSR.”

The congratulatory message highlights international recognition of ASJF’s efforts to strengthen professionalism in Afghan sports media, despite the challenges faced within the country. It also signals a growing spirit of solidarity and cooperation between sports journalism bodies across Asia.

ASJF welcomed the message, affirming that international encouragement and partnerships provide Afghan sports journalists with the motivation and opportunities to continue their work under difficult conditions.
