Afghanistan has dispatched an eight-member taekwondo delegation to Riyadh to compete in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games from 14 to 16 November.

An eight-member Afghan taekwondo delegation, including five athletes and three officials, departed Kabul on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, to take part in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The team was sent by the National Taekwondo Federation of Afghanistan in coordination with the country’s sports authorities. Afghan athletes are scheduled to compete from November 14 to 16 against opponents from across the Islamic world.

Before their departure, team members met with Mawlawi Abdul Nasir Hashimi, Director of Finance and Administration at the National Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports Authority. Hashimi offered prayers for the team’s success and expressed hope that Afghan athletes would return with “valuable achievements” from the competition.

The Islamic Solidarity Games bring together athletes from member nations of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation. Afghanistan has taken part in several editions, using the event as an important platform to showcase talent and strengthen its presence in international combat sports.
