FIBA has announced the launch of the 2026 edition of She Calls Game, an initiative aimed at increasing the presence of women across global basketball media and storytelling platforms.
The programme forms part of FIBA’s broader Women in Basketball strategy and is designed to support women with existing media experience who are seeking pathways into professional sports media roles. Opportunities will be available across commentary, photography, writing and content creation.
Building on the success of the inaugural She Calls Game initiative launched in 2022, the 2026 programme expands its scope beyond commentary and photography. New roles for content creators and writers have been introduced, reflecting the evolving landscape of digital and audience-driven sports coverage.
Selected participants will receive training and mentorship from FIBA media professionals and gain hands-on experience during the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments. Successful applicants will also join FIBA’s media operations at the Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany, next September.
FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said the initiative is designed to identify and support emerging female talent across regions. He noted that the programme is not only focused on a single tournament but on building long-term capacity and diversity within FIBA’s media teams.
Application deadlines vary by role, with submissions closing between February 10 and February 23, 2026. Shortlisted candidates will take part in qualifying tournaments in March, while final selections will be announced during the Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Draw in April.
FIBA officials said the initiative reflects a continued commitment to inclusive representation and authentic storytelling in global basketball coverage.
