Colombo | By Sara Amiri
Afghanistan’s Under-19 cricket team delivered a disciplined bowling and fielding performance against Sri Lanka, removing five opposition batters for 141 runs in 37 overs as they pressed hard to defend a target of 194.
After early breakthroughs from Abdul Aziz and Nusrat Nooristani, the Afghan attack maintained pressure through Wahidullah Zadran, Khatir Stanikzai, and Rohullah Arab, who each claimed crucial wickets to keep Sri Lanka in check.
The collective effort in the field, marked by sharp catching and controlled bowling spells, reflected Afghanistan’s intent to protect their total and force errors from the hosts as the match moved into its decisive phase.
With overs remaining, Afghanistan continued to apply sustained pressure, aiming to close out the innings and secure a valuable result.
