A six-day AFC ‘D’ level coaching course has commenced in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province, bringing together 22 aspiring football coaches for structured theoretical and practical training.

The programme is being conducted under the supervision of Mohammad Taher Raoufi, an official instructor of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and head of the Education Department of the Afghanistan Football Federation. The course is organized under the direction of Rasul Ahmadi.

Participants are undergoing comprehensive sessions covering key aspects of grassroots coaching, including basic coaching principles, training methodologies, team management, and fundamental technical elements of football. The combination of classroom instruction and on-field practice is designed to equip coaches with essential skills for developing players at the entry level.

Coaching education programmes such as the AFC ‘D’ licence are a critical component of football development in emerging systems. In Afghanistan, where structured training pathways remain limited, such initiatives contribute to building technical capacity at the grassroots level. Strengthening the knowledge base of local coaches is widely seen as essential for long-term player development and the overall sustainability of the sport.
