Afghanistan’s Under-19 national cricket team recorded an encouraging six-wicket win over Australia U19 in a warm-up match ahead of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, delivering a composed performance in all departments.
Chasing the target, Afghanistan’s batting unit showed control and maturity, led by Usman Sadat who top-scored with 54 runs. Captain Mahboob Khan remained unbeaten on 34, while Azizullah Khan Niazi contributed a steady 28 to guide the team to victory.
The result highlighted Afghanistan’s growing confidence as the team continues its build-up to the tournament, using the warm-up fixtures to fine-tune combinations and assess match readiness.
Afghanistan U19 are scheduled to play their second warm-up match on Wednesday, where they will face Sri Lanka U19 as part of their final preparations before the start of the World Cup.
