AIPS will host a global online media meeting with Aitana Bonmatí, the 2025 AIPS Champion, on January 16, bringing together sports journalists from around the world via Zoom.
The session is scheduled for 1:00 pm CET, two days before Bonmatí’s 28th birthday. Journalists wishing to attend have been asked to register by 10:00 am CET on January 16, according to AIPS.
Bonmatí was voted AIPS Best Female Athlete of the Year 2025 in the association’s annual poll, receiving 824 points from a record 836 journalists representing 121 countries. It marked her first win in the category, after finishing third in 2023 and second in 2024.
The Spanish midfielder finished well ahead of Kenyan distance runner Beatrice Chebet and Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka in the final standings.
In 2025, Bonmatí continued her dominance in women’s football, earning MVP honours at both the UEFA Women’s Champions League and UEFA Women’s EURO, while playing a central role in Barcelona’s domestic treble. She also won the Ballon d’Or and The Best FIFA Women’s Player awards for a third consecutive year.
Since emerging as a global star at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, Bonmatí has remained at the top of the women’s game, combining consistent elite performance with leadership on and off the pitch.
