Dear Sports Journalists,

The Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF) proudly announces the launch of the “100 Sports Reports” initiative, a landmark project aimed at producing and publishing 100 original feature reports on sports in Afghanistan, written by Afghan sports journalists both inside the country and abroad.

This initiative aims to showcase the diverse world of Afghan sports by featuring athletes, coaches, clubs, tournaments, challenges, and success stories.

Promote professional sports journalism by encouraging high-quality, in-depth, and original reporting.

Support photographers and visual storytellers in showcasing the beauty and passion of Afghan sports through feature photo essays.

Create a lasting archive of Afghan sports achievements for national and international audiences.

Key Details:

Start Date: September 20, 2025

Eligible Content: Feature articles on any active sport in Afghanistan (football, cricket, volleyball, traditional sports, women’s sports, etc.).

Languages: Dari or Pashto

Submission Format: Written feature reports; photo features are also accepted.

Requirements: All reports must be original, authored by the journalist, and unpublished elsewhere.

Why Participate?

Get Published: Selected reports will be published on ASJF’s official platforms and shared with international sports media networks.

Recognition: Top quality reports will be recognized by ASJF with certificates of appreciation and potential opportunities for regional and international exposure. The top ten reports will get ASJF awards and appreciation, while the top one will get a cash prize, and AIPS recognition as well.

Skill Development: Journalists will gain experience in feature writing and sports storytelling for global audiences.

Sayer Zaland is an Afghan sports journalist and media professional, Founder of the Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF). Since 2014, he has worked to strengthen independent media in Afghanistan, representing over 100 members nationwide. He continues to advocate for free press, inclusivity, and international cooperation for Afghan journalists.
