Australia completed a dominant Ashes campaign by defeating England by five wickets in the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, sealing a 4–1 series victory.

Chasing a manageable target, Australia controlled the final stages of the match to secure the win and lift the Ashes trophy on home soil. Travis Head was named Player of the Match for his decisive performance in the final Test, while Mitchell Starc earned Player of the Series honours for his consistent impact throughout the five-match contest.

England, who faced sustained criticism during the series, fought hard in the final encounter in an effort to revive their title hopes. Despite a spirited effort, they were unable to overturn Australia’s advantage as the hosts maintained control across all phases of the game.

Australia’s superiority was evident throughout the series, with strong performances in batting, bowling and fielding allowing them to set the tempo and maintain momentum from start to finish.

The series was played across multiple cities in Australia and attracted strong spectator interest. More than 211,000 fans attended the five days of play in Sydney alone, underlining the enduring appeal of the Ashes despite England’s defeat.
