A ski competition in Bamyan brought together 230 athletes in a one-day event that highlighted the growing interest in winter sports in central Afghanistan.
Participants competed across amateur, professional, and local categories, showcasing a range of developing talent in one of the country’s few active skiing regions.
The event was organized by the provincial office of the Afghanistan Ski Federation, with financial support from Afghan Wireless and in coordination with the Bamyan Department of Physical Education and Sports.
Three athletes in each category secured top positions and were awarded prizes at the conclusion of the competition.
While limited in scale, the event reflects ongoing efforts to promote skiing and expand opportunities for young athletes, with Bamyan continuing to serve as a key center for winter sports development in Afghanistan.
