Egypt secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after a 3–1 win against Benin, sealing qualification with a composed and effective display.
The Egyptian side started the match on the front foot, taking control of possession and dictating the tempo from the opening minutes. Captain Mohamed Salah played a central role in Egypt’s attacking play, contributing to the build-up and maintaining pressure on Benin’s defensive line.
Benin attempted to respond through counterattacks and managed to score once, briefly reducing the deficit. However, Egypt capitalised on defensive lapses, adding two further goals to put the result beyond doubt.
The win confirms Egypt’s progress to the quarter-final stage, reinforcing their status as one of the tournament’s leading contenders. With Salah and several key players in strong form, expectations among supporters remain high as the competition moves into the knockout phase.
