KABUL,November 25, 2016 – Afghanistan Sports Journalists’ Federation president SayerZaland announced to the local media on Monday that the First Afghanistan SportPride Awards will be held in late December this year and will be a prestigiousevent for all of Afghanistan.

ASJFPresident Sayer Zaland will welcome journalists and top athletes from all overthe country in the central Kabul Province and capital of Afghanistan, where 123members of the ASJF and nine members of EC Committee will meet for the secondtime in 2016 after the first ever historic Afghanistan Sports Journalists Congressin Kabul star in April, ahead of the ceremony.

ASJFPresident explained to AIPS Media that the Sport Pride Awards will be an annualawards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the nation’s clubs, coaches,schools, sports organizations, workplaces, athletes, sports journalists whoperformed well during last year.

He told themedia that ASJF aims to lay the ground for a long-term improvement. It isdesigned to build capacities among Afghan journalists on a grassroots’ leveland will address the most pressing issues on local level which are currentlyhardly covered by the Afghan media during the FIFA World Cup, Rio Olympic Gamesand many other sport tournaments.

Accordingto Zaland, the Afghanistan Sport Pride Awards ceremony will be an annual eventthat celebrates, recognizes and applauds the efforts and outstandingachievements of various sporting organizations and individuals and also thecompanies who invested in Sports those awarded have displayed a dedication toenhancing Sport and Physical Activity across Afghanistan.

“A public campaignencourages nominations and raises the profile of the event,” Zaland said

He addedthat the Afghanistan Sport pride Awards Ceremony will grow in popularity andexposure is increasing year after year with more people actively engaging andgetting excited about sport.

Accordingto him this ceremony will have a high entertainment level, with the hope bringingtop names to the ceremony.

Thefollowing categories are included in the Awards:

Active Workplace of the Year

Anorganization, business or workplace that has made a significant contribution todeveloping and promoting sport and physical activity. This could be anorganization that has provided a significant number of competitions or hasengaged a significant number of employees who are regularly logging theiractivities on Workplace Challenge.

Changing Lives through Sport and Physical Activity

Anorganization, group or individual that has made a significant contribution todevelop a project using sport and physical activity as a tool to promotestronger, safer communities, improve health and well-being and to create socialaction through learning and volunteering.

Coachof the Year
a coach who holds a current recognized coaching qualification (all shortlistednominations will be verified by the appropriate National Governing Body). Thisshould be someone who is committed to providing the highest standard ofcoaching to their athletes and/ or to helping other coaches to develop.

Community Club of the Year
a local club that has significantly developed and/or performed well inthe last year at district, county, regional and international level.

Disabled Sports Personality of theYear
an athlete who has made a significant impact in the last year at anational or international level either individually or as part of a team. Opento all ages and disabilities.

Physical Activity Project of theYear
Anindividual, team, club, group or organization who has successfully delivered aphysical activity project in Greater Essex which has made a significantcontribution to increasing participation in Physical Activity in the communityand has had a significant health and wellbeing impact on hard to reach groups.

Supporting company of the Year
A company, organization that invests in sports and the development of sports in Afghanistan.

Services to Disability Sport
an individual or an organization that has made a significantcontribution in the last year to advancing sport for people with disabilities.

Sports Personality of the Year
an athlete who has made a significant impact in the last year at anational or international level either individually or as part of a team. Mustbe aged 18 or over on 6th December 2016.

Unsung Hero (volunteer)
Avolunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport. This couldbe a dedicated volunteer within a sports club setting who you feel deservesrecognition for their commitment to supporting and developing the club and itsmembers. Must be aged 18 or over on 6th December 2016.

Young Sports Personality of theYear
An athlete who has made a significant impact the last year at aregional, national or international level either individually or as part of ateam. Must be aged 17 or under on 6th December 2016.

Young Volunteer (U18)
Ayoung volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport. Thiscould be a dedicated volunteer within a sports club setting who you feeldeserves recognition for their commitment to supporting and developing the cluband its members. Must be aged 17 or under on 6th December 2016.

Sports TV Anchor of the Year

 a TV sport anchor who hasmade an outstanding contribution to local sport and made a significant impactthe last year at a regional, national or international level either individuallyor as part of a team.

Sports Radio Anchor of the Year
aRadio anchor who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport and made asignificant impact the last year at a regional, national or international leveleither individually or as part of a team

Sports TV reporter of the Year
aTV Reporter who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport and made asignificant impact the last year at a regional, national or international leveleither individually or as part of a team

Sports Radio Reporter of the Year
aRadio reporter who has made anoutstanding contribution to local sport and made a significant impact the lastyear at a regional, national or international level either individually or aspart of a team

Sports Press Reporter of the Year
apress reporter who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport and madea significant impact the last year at a regional, national or internationallevel either individually or as part of a team

Social media Sports Analyst of the Year

a social mediaJournalist who has made an outstanding contribution to local sport and made asignificant impact the last year at a regional, national or international leveleither individually or as part of a team

Sports Critics of the Year

Encouraging sports of the Year

Sports Journalist of the Year
all sports best journalists and a journalists who did best forAfghanistan sports Journalism, and promoting sports Journalists trough thecountry, this could be a journalists who trying to connect Afghanistan to thesports world, did stories in international and national level and showcasedAfghanistan’s future to the world in the past one year.
