Thousands of residents in Herat joined national investor Alhaj Ahmad Shah Faqiri on Saturday to celebrate Afghanistan’s U-17 futsal team after its historic gold-medal victory at the AFC U-17 Futsal Asian Cup in Bahrain.

The celebration began at Herat International Airport, where the team was welcomed, then escorted in a public procession to the central football stadium for the main event.

Afghanistan’s U-17 futsal team delivered a flawless campaign in Bahrain, winning all matches in the group stage before defeating Iran 2–1 in the final to claim the nation’s first-ever Asian futsal championship and a historic gold medal.

Following the public celebration, investor Ahmad Shah Faqiri hosted a special evening reception for the team and sports officials, where he awarded 2 million Afghanis in cash prizes to the national squad.
