
Iran’s futsal dominance in Asia continued as they edged past host nation Indonesia in a dramatic final to reclaim the continental crown for a record 14th time.

Iran were crowned champions of the AFC Asian Futsal Cup after defeating host nation Indonesia on penalties following a thrilling 5–5 draw in regulation time in the final match of the tournament.
The closely contested encounter saw both sides exchange goals in a high-tempo final, with Indonesia pushing Iran to the limit in front of a home crowd. After the match ended level at five goals apiece, the title was decided in a tense penalty shootout.
Iran held their nerve to win the shootout 10–9, securing their 14th Asian futsal championship, further extending their record as the most successful team in the history of the competition.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Seyed Ahmad Abbasi of Iran was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP), recognizing his decisive performances throughout the competition and his key role in Iran’s title run.
The victory reaffirmed Iran’s long-standing dominance in Asian futsal, while Indonesia’s run to the final marked a significant achievement for the host nation, signaling its growing competitiveness on the continental stage.
