A futsal tournament involving 10 teams, held under the title “U-17 Champions Commemoration Cup,” concluded in Sheberghan after one month of matches. The event was organised by the provincial representation of the National Futsal Federation in cooperation with the Jawzjan Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
In a close and high-energy final, the Eid Mahala Youth team defeated Club Taheri 5–4 to claim the championship. Organizers said the narrow scoreline reflected the growing competitiveness and tactical improvement among the region’s youth teams.
Sports officials noted that the tournament aimed to promote futsal across the province, encourage young people to engage in regular training, and identify rising talent for future provincial and national development programs. The event also offered young players extended match experience, helping them build confidence and consistency on the court.
At the closing ceremony, trophies were awarded to the championship team, while standout performers received individual sports prizes.
Futsal has expanded rapidly across northern Afghanistan in recent years, with Jawzjan emerging as a developing hub for youth participation. Local authorities say structured competitions like this not only strengthen grassroots development but also help channel growing enthusiasm into organized pathways for future athletes.
