In a lively final marked by strong fan attendance and a charged atmosphere, Iftikhar Keiti secured the Daikundi Premier League title on Thursday night with a 4–1 victory over Ettehad Daikundi. The win capped a three-week competition that brought together 10 teams from across the province.
The match began with high intensity, as both sides pushed forward in search of an early advantage. Iftikhar Keiti gradually took control, converting sustained pressure into goals that widened the gap and left Ettehad struggling to recover. Despite brief surges from the runners-up, the champions maintained their lead until the final whistle.
League officials introduced the top performers of the season during the closing ceremony. Rahmat Nekoyee of Ettehad Daikundi finished as the league’s top scorer with six goals, and Ettehad received the Fair Play Team award for their consistent discipline throughout the tournament.
Local donors played a notable role in supporting the event. Haji Ali Hamdard contributed 70,000 afghanis to the champions and 30,000 afghanis to the runners-up. The championship trophy was provided by Noor Mohammad Karimi, whose support organizers described as essential for completing this year’s competition.
The Daikundi Premier League has grown steadily in recent years, offering a rare provincial platform for local footballers to compete at an organized level. This season drew larger crowds than previous editions, reflecting increasing community engagement with football across the province. With the title now secured, Iftikhar Keiti is set to represent Daikundi in the upcoming zonal qualifiers, a key step toward national-level competition.
