A volleyball tournament featuring 24 teams has officially begun in Khost, organised by the provincial Directorate of Physical Education and Sports. The competition is being held in the Lakano area of Khost city and is scheduled to run for one month.

The opening match of the tournament saw Mohabbat defeat Sabil by 30–25, registering the first victory of the competition and setting the competitive tone for the weeks ahead.

Officials said the tournament aims to provide regular match opportunities for local teams and to keep volleyball activity active within the province through a structured schedule.

Provincial volleyball tournaments remain a key component of Afghanistan’s grassroots sports system, particularly in regions where access to national-level competition is limited. In Khost, the participation of 24 teams highlights both the popularity of the sport and the continued role of local sports authorities in sustaining organised athletic activity at the community level.
