A new gymnasium valued at 9.6 million Afghanis was officially opened in Pul-e-Alam on Wednesday, providing Logar province with one of its most modern indoor sporting facilities to date. The project was fully financed by engineer Hafizullah Yousfi, who said the venue was constructed within six months and is designed to accommodate around 1,000 spectators.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yousfi said the gymnasium aims to support local athletes by offering a standard indoor environment for competitions and training sessions. He emphasised the importance of private investment in promoting sports development in the province.

The inauguration was attended by provincial sports officials, community elders, athletes, and a large number of sports enthusiasts, who welcomed the facility as a much-needed addition to Logar’s limited infrastructure.

Logar has seen growing interest in indoor sports, but inadequate facilities have hampered development. The newly inaugurated gymnasium is expected to host local tournaments and training camps, offering improved opportunities for youth engagement and organised sports across the province.
