The National Greco-Roman Pahlawani Wrestling Team Trials officially kicked off in the capital, organized by the National Federation of Pahlawani Greco-Roman Wrestling in cooperation with the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education and Sports.

The four-day competition features the participation of 500 wrestlers from six provinces across the country. The tournament is being conducted in the Greco-Roman style, with athletes competing in the senior category across ten weight divisions.

At the conclusion of the trials, 40 top-performing wrestlers will be selected to join the Afghanistan National Greco-Roman Pahlawani Team, based on their performance and technical assessment by the coaching and judging panels.

Officials said the event aims to identify elite talent, strengthen the national team, and support the continued development of wrestling in Afghanistan.
