
A newly constructed futsal ground funded by two local businessmen has been inaugurated in Sar-e-Pul, marking a fresh investment in community sports facilities.

A new futsal ground valued at USD 70,000 was officially opened on Wednesday in Kata Qala village of Sozma Qala district, Sar-e-Pul province. The project was financed by local businessmen Abdul Hamid and Shukrullah, in coordination with the provincial Department of Physical Education and Sports, and launched with the start of a district-level futsal tournament.
The opening ceremony was attended by provincial sports officials, Sozma Qala district authorities, community elders, and local athletes, who praised the initiative as a significant contribution to expanding sports infrastructure in rural areas.
Officials noted that the facility is expected to support youth engagement and strengthen futsal development across the province.
Sar-e-Pul has seen growing demand for organised sports spaces as futsal continues to gain popularity nationwide. Community-funded projects have become an important part of expanding access to training grounds and hosting local tournaments.
