Zurich: FIFA has released the latest Futsal Women’s World Ranking, featuring 12 new teams as the game continues to grow in popularity ahead of the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™ in the Philippines, running from 21 November to 7 December 2025.
Brazil remains at the top of both the women’s and men’s rankings, with Spain and Portugal close behind in the women’s standings. Thailand and Japan have risen to fourth and fifth, reflecting the increasing competitiveness in Asia. Morocco has been the standout performer, climbing 16 places from 47th to 31st after winning the Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, the CAF qualifying tournament for the World Cup.
The ranking now includes 92 women’s teams, with newcomers including Canada (74th), Mexico (75th), Panama (79th), Tanzania (82nd), Cameroon (84th), Angola (85th), Egypt (86th), Honduras (88th), Madagascar (89th), Namibia (90th), Guinea (91st), and Cuba (92nd). Guatemala has also returned to the table in 39th position following a hiatus.
A total of 95 women’s matches have been played since the previous ranking update in April, bringing the 2025 total to 206 women’s matches and 165 men’s matches. These include 57 qualifiers across AFC, CAF, Concacaf, and OFC, finalizing the line-up for the inaugural World Cup. Qualifiers include Japan, IR Iran, Thailand, Morocco, Tanzania, Canada, Panama, and New Zealand.
The FIFA Futsal World Ranking uses an Elo rating system, where points are added for wins and subtracted for losses, taking into account the relative rankings of the teams. This is the fourth official release since FIFA launched the ranking in May 2024.
Top Women’s Teams by Confederation:
- CONMEBOL: Brazil (1st)
- UEFA: Spain (2nd)
- AFC: Thailand (4th)
- OFC: New Zealand (21st)
- Concacaf: Costa Rica (28th)
- CAF: Morocco (31st)
The ranking also determines the pot allocation for the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 draw on 15 September, ensuring a competitive and balanced tournament.
With women’s futsal growing rapidly, this ranking update highlights the expansion of the sport and sets the stage for an exciting first World Cup in the Philippines.
