The Afghanistan Football Federation has appointed Brazilian coach José Antonio Nogueira as the new head coach of the national football team.
Nogueira arrived in Kabul on Friday and is scheduled to formally sign his contract before noon on Saturday, officially beginning his tenure with the national side.
The Brazilian coach brings prior international experience, having managed the national teams of Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. His appointment comes as Afghanistan seeks to strengthen its technical structure and competitive standing in regional and continental competitions.
The federation has yet to disclose details of the contract, including its duration and immediate objectives, but Nogueira’s arrival signals a renewed effort to build stability and long-term development within the national program.
