An 18-team volleyball competition in Jaghatu district concluded after a week of matches aimed at developing sport in remote areas.

A volleyball tournament featuring 18 teams concluded on Sunday in Jaghatu district of Maidan Wardak province, with Shamsullah Maiyar emerging as champion.

The competition was organised by the Maidan Wardak Directorate of Physical Education and Sports and brought together teams from across the district. In the final match, Shamsullah Maiyar defeated Jaghatu 2–1 to secure the tournament title.

Officials said the event provided regular competitive opportunities for local athletes and strengthened community engagement through sport.

The one-week tournament was held as part of efforts to promote volleyball and expand access to organised sports in remote and underserved areas of Maidan Wardak.
