Sporting activities expanded beyond Kabul in 2025, with competitions held in provinces, districts, and rural areas, according to the Sports Administration.

Molavi, Ahmadullah Wasiq, expressed that in 2026, they are planning to organize more competitions outside of Kabul to strengthen sports in remote areas.

In his interview on a national news TV, Wasiq stated that decentralising sports was a priority, allowing for wider participation across the country.

Sports analyst Khalid Hotak said grassroots expansion is vital for identifying new talent, particularly outside major cities.

Hotak stressed that expansion must be matched with proper coaching and safety standards.
