The ninth round of Afghanistan Traditional Taekwondo (ITTAF) national team trials concluded on Thursday, October 9, 2025 (17 Mizan 1404) at the 500-seat gymnasium of the National Sports Directorate in Kabul. The competition featured 130 athletes from 11 provinces, competing across children, youth, and junior categories.
Following three days of matches, 30 top athletes were selected for the national traditional Taekwondo team.
The closing ceremony was attended by Hafiz Ahmad Jan Zadran, Technical and Professional Deputy of the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports, Gulajan Wafa, President of the Afghanistan and Asia Traditional Taekwondo Federation, and athletes from both Kabul and provincial teams.
Officials said the trials aimed to identify the country’s best talents for national representation, and top performers were awarded belts, championship certificates, and medals.
Afghanistan’s traditional Taekwondo has grown steadily in recent years, with national trials serving as a key platform to promote youth participation, recognize talent, and strengthen the country’s competitive presence in international traditional Taekwondo events.
