Inter-provincial competition showcases Afghanistan’s traditional sport and emerging local talent

A two-day Buzkashi competition was held in Pul-e-Khumri, organized by the Buzkashi Federation in collaboration with the Physical Training and Sports Directorate of Baghlan. Seventy riders from Baghlan, Sar-e-Pul, and Samangan provinces participated in the event.

Pehlwan Azizullah Baghlani, Pehlwan Waqil Charmabi, Pehlwan Javid Sarpali, and Pehlwan Masood Shirpur achieved the highest scores and claimed the championship titles.

The tournament highlights ongoing efforts to preserve Afghanistan’s traditional sports while promoting inter-provincial participation. By drawing competitors from multiple regions, the event strengthens local social bonds and provides a platform for young athletes to develop skills and aspire to higher-level Buzkashi competitions.
