Afghanistan’s 18-member national volleyball team concluded a two-and-a-half-month intensive training camp in Kabul under the supervision of the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports. A farewell ceremony was held today at the 2,500-seat gymnasium of the Sports Directorate, attended by officials including Maulvi Abdulnaser Hashimi, Head of Finance and Administration, Dad Mohammad Painda Akhtari, Head of Olympic Affairs, Maulvi Atiqullah Khalid, Head of Physical Education in Kabul, and Mohammad Arif Peyman, Deputy Administrator of the National Volleyball Federation.
The team will depart tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. for Dhaka, Bangladesh, to participate in the Central Asia Zone Championship, which runs from October 22–28, 2025, featuring nine Central Asian national teams. Afghanistan is scheduled to play its opening match against Sri Lanka on October 22.
During the farewell, Dad Mohammad Painda Akhtari welcomed the team and said: “I am delighted that once again an Afghan team will compete on international fields and represent Afghanistan on the world stage. I hope you achieve great results and return home with full hands of success.”
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the team’s safety and success, as Afghan volleyball fans and officials look forward to strong performances in the regional tournament.
The Central Asia Zone Championship serves as a key regional competition for national volleyball teams, providing competitive exposure ahead of larger continental tournaments. Afghanistan’s participation reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s presence in international volleyball despite limited resources and challenges at home.
