A friendly Muay Thai tournament featuring 50 athletes from three provinces concluded in Gardez, the capital of Paktia province, aimed at preparing fighters for upcoming regional and national competitions.
The one-day event, organized by the Paktia Provincial Muay Thai Federation at the city’s main sports stadium, brought together athletes from Paktika, Logar, and the host province, Paktia. Competitors participated across junior, youth, and senior age categories. At the end of the tournament, Paktika secured first place, Logar finished second, and Paktia claimed third position.
Muay Thai, a combat sport gaining popularity in Afghanistan, has been experiencing significant growth in recent years. Friendly tournaments like this not only promote physical fitness and discipline among young athletes but also help them prepare for national-level championships.
The tournament highlighted the rising talent in Afghan Muay Thai and strengthened sporting ties among provinces, contributing to the development of the sport nationwide.
