A wheelchair basketball tournament featuring four teams began in Firozkoh, the capital of Ghor province, on Tuesday, aiming to promote inclusive sports and identify top athletes for future competitions.
The tournament is organized by the provincial branch of the National Wheelchair Basketball Federation in cooperation with the Ghor Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
In the first match, Team Wahdat (Unity) overcame Team Jam Ghor with a 19-15 victory. The tournament will run for one week, with standout players expected to be selected for the provincial representative team.
Wheelchair basketball is steadily expanding across Afghanistan, offering athletes with disabilities a platform to compete and encouraging greater participation in adaptive sports nationwide.
