Preparations are complete for the Merois Waziri, Katuwazi National Spear Throwing Tournament in Ghazni, which kicks off today at the historic Qalati Dashta grounds.
The competition will see nine teams representing eight provinces, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, Khost, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Zabul, and Ghazni, competing for the national title.
Organizers have promised a well, structured tournament that showcases traditional Afghan sporting skills while promoting unity among young athletes.
Provincial teams have trained extensively in the weeks leading up to the tournament, with athletes focusing on accuracy, strength, and endurance. Officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have emphasized the importance of such traditional events in preserving Afghan cultural heritage and encouraging participation in indigenous sports.
