Afghan athletes won four gold and two silver medals in the 36th Muhammad Ibrahim Mustafa International Pahlwani Competition, also securing team gold.

Afghan wrestlers achieved major success at the 36th Muhammad Ibrahim Mustafa International Pahlwani Competition, winning four gold and two silver medals in youth individual categories and securing first place in the team event.

Gold medals were earned by:

• Yaser Rahmani (57 kg)

• Rashid Malekzada (65 kg)

• Karim Dorani (79 kg)

• Maitham Shaqal (125 kg)

Silver medals went to:

• Farzad Chelebaghi (57 kg)

• Sahel Soltani (74 kg)

The competition, featuring athletes from 11 countries, began on October 1, 2025, in Alexandria, Egypt, and will continue through October 10, 2025.

Officials said the results highlight the growing strength of Afghan Pahlwani wrestlers and their competitiveness on the international stage.

Pahlwani, a traditional Afghan wrestling style, remains a source of national pride. Afghan athletes continue to participate in international competitions to showcase their skills, strengthen the sport domestically, and elevate Afghanistan’s presence in global wrestling.
