A one-day buzkashi competition featuring 50 riders from the provincial center and nearby districts was held in Sar-e-Pul on Saturday, local officials said.
The event was organized by the provincial branch of the Buzkashi Federation in cooperation with the Directorate of Physical Education and Sport. Riders competed in two decisive akhar-o-laq rounds.
Officials said Najibullah Pahlawan secured the first akhar-o-laq victory, while Salahuddin Pahlawan claimed the final round after carrying the carcass to the scoring circle. Both riders were awarded prizes for their performances.
Organizers stated that the competition aimed to promote and preserve Afghanistan’s traditional sports, with awards presented to top participants at the end of the event.
