Afghanistan’s Under-19 national cricket team began their Asia Cup campaign with a three-wicket defeat against Bangladesh on Sunday.
Defending their target, the Afghan bowlers delivered a strong performance and dismissed seven Bangladeshi batsmen, keeping the contest competitive until the final overs. However, Bangladesh reached the target with three wickets in hand to secure the victory.
Afghanistan will look to respond in their second group-stage match, scheduled for Monday against Sri Lanka.
The Under-19 Asia Cup is being hosted by Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates, marking the first time the country has served as host for a major international cricket tournament. The event represents a significant milestone for Afghan cricket, despite matches being staged at a neutral venue.
