Afghan athletes recorded notable international results in 2025, winning medals at regional competitions despite limited resources.
According to the head of the Sports Administration, Molvi Ahmadullah Wasiq, Afghanistan has won more medals in 2025 than in 2024.
Speaking in an interview with a national television channel, Wasiq said Afghan athletes competed in events such as the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain and the Islamic Solidarity Games, describing the results as historically important.
Sports analyst Khalid Hotak said continued international exposure is essential, noting that even limited participation helps athletes gain experience and maintain competitive standards.
ASJF President Khushhal Taib said sustained access to international competition remains key to long-term progress.
