More than 5,000 spectators gathered in Shirin Tagab to watch a traditional buzkashi contest featuring leading champions from northern Afghanistan.

A traditional and cultural buzkashi competition was held on Friday, 12 Jadi 1404, in Shirin Tagab district of Faryab province, bringing together prominent buzkashi champions from Afghanistan’s northern zone.
The event featured well-known riders, including Pahlawan Taufiq and Pahlawan Najib Jowzjani, with Shirin Tagab district hosting the competition. The matches attracted strong public interest, as more than 5,000 spectators attended to watch the contest from close range.
At the conclusion of the event, top-performing pahlawans were honored by the organizers, who awarded cash prizes in recognition of their performances, underscoring the continued cultural and sporting importance of buzkashi in northern Afghanistan.
