An inter-provincial Pahlwani competition between athletes from Baghlan and Samangan was held in Dand Ghori district of Baghlan, bringing together dozens of competitors in a display of traditional wrestling.

The one-day event, organized by the Pahlwani Federation’s provincial office in coordination with the Department of Physical Education and Sports, featured 46 athletes competing in individual bouts.

At the conclusion of the competition, 20 wrestlers secured victories over their opponents to claim top positions, while three matches ended in draws.

Organizers said the tournament aimed to promote Pahlwani as a traditional sport while fostering unity and solidarity among athletes. Prizes were awarded to top performers at the end of the event.

Pahlwani remains one of Afghanistan’s longstanding traditional sports, often serving as both a cultural expression and a means of strengthening community ties through local and regional competitions.
