The Afghanistan Cricket Board’s (ACB) domestic cricket season enters a competitive phase as regional teams begin preparations for the Mirwais Nika Regional Three-Day Tournament. Scheduled from April 2 to 20, matches will take place across Helmand and Kandahar provinces, following the ACB’s annual domestic calendar.

Training sessions commenced today with the Mis-e-Ainak regional team practicing at the Helmand Cricket Academy under the guidance of national coach Abdul Wali Amin. Focused on all three departments of the game, the squad is set to face Band-e-Amir in the tournament opener this Thursday.

The Band-e-Amir regional team will also hold its preparatory session at the same venue this afternoon, ensuring both teams enter the competition well-equipped.

The Mirwais Nika Regional Three-Day Tournament is a cornerstone of Afghanistan’s domestic cricket framework, providing regional teams with opportunities to develop talent and compete at a high standard. Past editions have been instrumental in identifying players for the national team, with a strong emphasis on long-format skills and regional representation. This year’s tournament continues that tradition, strengthening competitive cricket across Afghanistan’s southern provinces.
