The Afghanistan Canoeing Federation, in coordination with the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports, has launched a training camp for athletes at Qargha Dam in Paghman district of Kabul.
The camp brings together 30 athletes from Kabul, Logar, and Maidan Wardak provinces as part of preparations for upcoming provincial competitions. Organizers stated that the program is focused on improving technical skills, physical readiness, and competitive coordination among participants.
Officials described the initiative as part of broader efforts to strengthen water sports development and create more structured training opportunities for young athletes in the country. The camp is scheduled to continue for two weeks.
Canoeing remains one of Afghanistan’s developing sports disciplines, with sports authorities increasingly organizing regional camps and competitions to expand participation and improve athlete preparation at the provincial level.
