The selection tournament of the Afghanistan National Tabma Federation officially began in Kabul with the participation of 150 athletes.

The competition is being organized by the National Tabma Federation in cooperation with the Kabul Directorate of Physical Education and Sports at the 2,500-seat gymnasium of the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education and Sports.

Athletes are competing over three days in the youth, junior and senior age categories across five disciplines, including Tabma Pekar, Tabma Tawan, Tabma Resha, individual arts and one-on-one combat.

The tournament is being held in weight categories ranging from 20 to 100 kilograms. At the end of the event, 30 athletes will be selected to represent Kabul’s provincial team.

Selection tournaments play an important role in identifying talented athletes and strengthening provincial representation in national competitions. Sports officials say such events also contribute to the development of martial arts disciplines and provide greater opportunities for young athletes across Afghanistan.
