
Afghanistan secured its third bronze medal at the 15th Asian Kurash Championships, adding to the country’s successful performance at the continental event.

Afghan athlete Ahmad Zahir Sarwari won a bronze medal in the 100kg category at the 15th Asian Kurash Championships after defeating his Indian opponent before losing to a competitor from Uzbekistan in the next round.
The medal marks Afghanistan’s third bronze of the tournament. Earlier, Mirajuddin Chakmar claimed bronze in the 66kg division, while Zabihullah Ehsani secured another bronze medal in the 81kg category.
The championships were hosted by Tajikistan and featured athletes from 28 countries across Asia. The competition began on June 11 and concluded on June 14.
Afghanistan participated in the event with a delegation led by Sayed Mohammad Zia Dashti, President of the Kurash, Sambo and Traditional Wrestling Federation. The delegation included six athletes, one coach and four referees.
The Asian Kurash Championships are among the continent’s premier competitions in the sport, bringing together top athletes from across Asia. Afghanistan’s three bronze medals highlight the country’s growing presence in regional martial arts competitions.
