Germany launched its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 7-1 victory over Curaçao in Houston.

Germany began its FIFA World Cup 2026 journey with a dominant 7-1 win over Curaçao at NRG Stadium in Houston on June 14.

The Germans took an early lead in the sixth minute through Felix Nmecha, but Curaçao stunned the crowd when Livano Comenencia equalized in the 21st minute. The goal marked Curaçao’s first-ever goal in FIFA World Cup history and briefly ignited hopes of an upset.

However, Germany quickly regained control and entered halftime with a 3-1 advantage.

The second half saw the four-time world champions increase the pressure, scoring four more goals to seal a comfortable victory. Kai Havertz netted twice, including one from the penalty spot, while Jamal Musiala, Deniz Undav and Nathaniel Brown also found the back of the net.

Germany’s attacking display secured three valuable points and provided an ideal start to its World Cup campaign.

Germany is among the favorites to challenge for the FIFA World Cup 2026 title and entered the tournament with a strong squad blending experienced internationals and emerging talent. Curaçao is making its first appearance on football’s biggest stage and achieved a historic milestone by scoring its first-ever World Cup goal.
