Afghanistan’s sports authorities and India’s chargé d’affaires in Kabul discussed bilateral sports relations and ways to expand cooperation between the two countries. The meeting was attended by representatives of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq, head of Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, met with India’s chargé d’affaires in Kabul, Yatin Patel, to discuss bilateral sports relations.
Representatives of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting, during which both sides discussed sports cooperation and expressed a commitment to efforts aimed at expanding relations in the field.
The meeting followed remarks by India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who said recently that India would cooperate with Afghanistan in various areas.
Afghanistan and India have longstanding ties in sports, particularly in cricket and other athletic disciplines. Sports cooperation has provided opportunities for athletes and sporting organizations from both countries to maintain engagement and develop relations.
