Afghan Kurash Athlete Wins Bronze at 2026 World Nomad Games
Afghan kurash athlete Nader Sufi Zada has won a bronze medal in the open-weight division of the kurash competition at the 2026 World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan.
Sufi Zada advanced through the competition by defeating opponents from Italy, Georgia and Armenia in succession. His run ended against an opponent from host nation Kyrgyzstan, leaving the Afghan athlete with a bronze medal.
The sixth edition of the World Nomad Games began in Kyrgyzstan on August 31, 2026, with athletes from 106 countries taking part. The event is scheduled to continue through September 7.
Sufi Zada’s bronze medal gives Afghanistan a podium finish in the kurash competition at the international multi-sport event.
