Maiwand Champions staged a major second-innings recovery on Saturday to turn a difficult start into a strong position against Hindukush Strikers in the Ahmad Shah Abdali First Class Tournament.
Maiwand had been dismissed for only 109 in their first innings before Hindukush replied with 169, taking a 60-run lead. The match then changed direction as Maiwand reached 404 for nine in their second innings, setting Hindukush a target of 314.
Hindukush negotiated the opening eight overs of the chase without losing a wicket, closing day three on 31 for no loss. Abdul Malik was unbeaten on 24 and Mobin Bakhtyar on seven.
The position leaves both sides with a realistic route to victory on the final day. Hindukush have all ten wickets available and need another 283 runs, while Maiwand require early breakthroughs to defend the target.
The match is the fifth fixture of the 2026 Ahmad Shah Abdali four-day competition and is being played in Khost from September 10 to 13.
