India completed a 3–0 T20I series sweep over Afghanistan after dismissing the visitors for 94 and winning the final match by 127 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Chasing 222, Afghanistan were bowled out in 14.1 overs as their batting order failed to build a sustained response to India’s imposing total of 221 for seven.
Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran top-scored with 25. Rahmanullah Gurbaz made 15, while debutant Noor-ul-Rahman contributed 11, but no Afghan batter was able to take control of the chase.
India’s bowlers maintained pressure after Afghanistan’s opening pair made a quick start. Axar Patel removed Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal before Yash Thakur dismissed Zadran.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled Darwish Rasooli, while Nitish Kumar Reddy accelerated the collapse by removing Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Reddy and Ravi Bishnoi finished with three wickets each, while Patel claimed two.
Earlier, Afghanistan elected to bowl after winning the toss, but Abhishek Sharma immediately placed the attack under pressure.
The Indian opener reached his century from 30 balls and finished with 108 from 34 deliveries, hitting nine fours and 11 sixes. Sanju Samson added 50 from 35 balls as the pair constructed a 142-run opening partnership.
Afghanistan recovered during the closing stages and restricted India to 79 runs after the opening partnership was broken. Omarzai took two wickets, while Rashid Khan dismissed Sharma after catching Samson earlier in the innings.
The late improvement could not compensate for the damage inflicted during India’s explosive start.
India had already secured the series after winning each of the opening two matches by seven wickets. The third defeat completed a difficult tour for Afghanistan and underlined the gap between the teams across the three games.
For Afghanistan, the immediate task will be assessing a batting performance that produced only 94 runs on a surface where India had scored 221.
