Eighty athletes are competing in Kabul’s 12th Pancration Selection Tournament, with the top 21 set to earn places on the provincial team after one day of competition.

The 12th Kabul Pancration Selection Tournament has begun in Kabul, bringing together 80 athletes from the province’s four zones as they compete for places in the Kabul provincial team.
Organized by the Afghanistan National Pancration Federation in coordination with the Kabul Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, the one-day tournament is being held at the 500-seat gymnasium of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
The competition features both youth and senior age categories, with 21 athletes set to be selected for the Kabul Pancration representative team.
Ahead of the tournament, referees attended a one-day seminar covering the sport’s rules, regulations and officiating standards to help ensure fair competition.
The opening ceremony was attended by National Pancration Federation President Ajab Noor Sayar, sports officials and spectators.
The selection tournament aims to identify the province’s top Pancration athletes for future national competitions.
