Afghanistan competes in Jujitsu and Beach Wrestling as 45 nations gather in China

The 6th Asian Beach Games officially opened on Wednesday in Sanya, China, bringing together athletes from 45 countries in one of the continent’s major multi-sport events.

The opening ceremony marked the start of competitions across multiple disciplines, with national delegations beginning their campaigns in coastal sporting categories that have steadily gained prominence in recent years.

Afghanistan is among the participating nations and will compete in two disciplines during the event. In Jujitsu, Mohammad Sarwar Hosseini and Noorullah Shafaei represent the country and are set to face their respective opponents in the opening rounds.

In Beach Wrestling, Shahram Mehraban and Ahmad Farrokh Sharifi will carry Afghanistan’s challenge in their respective categories, as the country seeks to secure competitive results on the regional stage.

The Asian Beach Games serve as a significant platform for athletes across Asia to showcase their abilities in non-traditional and emerging sports formats. The event has developed into a key fixture in the continental sporting calendar, drawing wide participation and attention from across the region.

The current edition continues that trend, with athletes competing across a range of disciplines designed to highlight adaptability, endurance, and technical skill in coastal and outdoor environments.
