Youth-focused Muay Thai event in Kabul draws 70 fighters, highlighting grassroots growth of combat sports.

A Muay Thai spring tournament featuring 70 athletes from various clubs was held in Kabul’s Dasht-e-Barchi area, organized by the Kabul Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.

The competition brought together fighters across youth and junior age categories, with 53 participants securing victories in their respective bouts after defeating their opponents.

The event reflects ongoing efforts to promote combat sports at the grassroots level, providing opportunities for young athletes to gain competitive experience in a structured environment.

Combat sports such as Muay Thai are gradually expanding in Afghanistan, particularly among younger age groups. Despite limited infrastructure, local tournaments continue to play a crucial role in talent identification and the broader development of the sport.
