A wrestling competition in Kapisa brought together athletes from three provinces on Tuesday, October 6, with organisers seeking candidates for Central Zone competition.
The provincial Directorate of Physical Education and Sports put participation at about 200 wrestlers from Kapisa, Parwan and Panjshir. Officials said identifying and selecting leading athletes for the regional competition was the purpose of the event.
The wrestlers competed in several divisions during the event.
Participants welcomed the competition and called for more events at provincial level. They said additional opportunities to compete could help young wrestlers develop their skills.
Kapisa sports officials said they planned further activities to support athletes and provide opportunities for development.
